Criminal Grand Jury

Grand Jury

It is important to understand that in most grand jury situations, the grand juries are making a determination simply based on the facts presented by the prosecutor and the officers involved. The defendant or potential defendant doesn’t have an opportunity to represent their version of what happened in a typical case and the determination by the grand juries only needs to be based on a reasonable basis that a crime was committed, not that there is a reasonable basis to believe that the person is going to be convicted or that there is evidence to convict but simple that there is a reasonable basis for the charge.
